Copy of a letter sent by the Prince William Henry, Duke of Clarence, Lord High Admiral, to the widow of Captain Walter Bathurst, dated 10 November 1827. It sends condolences following the death of Bathurst on HMS GENOA (1814) during the Battle of Navarino on 20 October 1827, with mention of the victory of the fleet under Vice-Admiral Sir Edward Codrington. The reverse of the sheet has a copy of the reply, sent by Dundas Bathurst, informing His Royal Highness and private secretary Captain Spencer, etc. that his mother is very ill and overpowered by her loss.
