In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The Commander of HMS RICHMOND some of the Ordnance on her are too heavy for her and others are unsuitable, and he would like more than her present number. We require you to review, judge what ordnance is most fitting and report back as soon as may be. And we also direct you to cause HM Fireship NATHANIEL at Deptford to be surveyed and report on her condition and her suitability to be employed as a Fireship for the next year, or dispose of her. You are also to survey the Assurance at Deptford and give us an account of what needs to be done to give her a full repair or only for next years service and how long it would take.
