In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

We direct you to cause the PLYMOUTH to be cleaned, the last of the third Rate Ships that are fitting out at Portsmouth. By reason of the increase in the Navy and the uncertainties of the Tides, which are often low, there cannot be that dispatch made in cleaning and refitting Ships as the Service requires, unless further provision is made for careening those who cannot be dispatched in the Docks.
We direct you to consider what further number of Hulks, besides those already belonging to the Navy, will be required at their Majesties' several Yards for careening and fitting Ships as occasion may require, and report your opinion to this Board.
