In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
In your letter to this Board dated January 27th you have said that making use of the second new Dock in the Chatham Yard for docking and undocking of the great Ships is very difficult, as well as hazardous to the Ships for want of a Pier- head on the North side of the Dock, so that it is absolutely necessary that the said Work should be taken in hand as soon as the Fleet is dispatched.
An Estimate of the Charge amounting to one thousand and thirteen pounds twelve shillings accompanied your letter.
We direct you to cause the Pier-head to be taken in hand as soon as the dispatch of the Fleet will admit, according to the said Estimate, which is herewith returned to you confirmed by this Board.
