In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Your letter of 28 January asked further direction about the Earl of Stafford's timber in Ireland, which has been lately felled at their Majesties' charge for the Navy. You have received advice that the Earl of Stafford's agent refuses to permit the removal of the timber without payment being made. His Majesty does not think fit to accept the terms upon which the Earl formerly offered the timber and you are directed to buy such of it fitting for the Navy that can be had at a reasonable rate..
