In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
You are directed to have 10 of the new fireships to be fitted out this year, manned and fitted for sea with all dispatch in order that they may be sent to Sheerness to be cleaned and victualled and have their guns, stores and fireworks put on board. You are further directed to return to us the names of the fireships and to enter on board such seamen who are volunteers not exceeding 26 to each ship.
