In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
We have been informed by the Commanders of the PLAY PRIZE and SWEEPSTAKES which are attending the laden fleet of colliers at Newcastle, that their victuals expended they have found it necessary to spend £160 on victualling. They have drawn bills of exchange for this sum on the Commissioners of the Victualling. You are directed to order the Commissioners to pay these bills of exchange, taking care that the money is charged on the proper officers. We have been advised by Lieutenant Butler of the SOVEREIGN, who is now at Barnstaple and hopes to get a good supply of men there, if he is able to pay them subsistence and conduct to Plymouth. You are directed to furnish Lieutenant Butler with money accordingly.
