In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The Commissioners of the Victualling have advised us that their agent at Dover advises that some part of the quay there is so much decayed that it is ready to sink and if not speedily repaired will cost treble the cost of repairs estimated at £40. Also, the elm pipes conveying water through the yards at the Victualling Office in London, are so decayed that they need repairs. You are directed to have the quay at Dover and the water pipes in London repaired. The Commissioners also state that butter and cheese on board the ships is being damaged for want of a convenient place for stowing. You are directed to take care that the proper officers are required to look after the proper stowing of stores..
