In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Your letter of 20 February, informed us that there was lately brought into Cowes by two privateers as a prize, a large flyboat laden with masts, deals, and other naval stores, which you judge will be very useful at Portsmouth. You are directed to have those goods which are fitting bought on reasonable terms. The Commissioners of the Victualling advise that they cannot procure a sufficient quantity of raisins until the coming home of merchant shops expected from Spain. You are directed to order the Commissioners to procure what they can and to make up the proportion by pickled suet.
