Document signed by James Southerne, Secretary to the Admiralty, fl. 1690-1694.

Your letter of 5 April asked for convoy for the two vessels taking stores to Portsmouth and Plymouth. Orders were sent on 28 March to the CROWN, then in the Downs and bound for Falmouth, to convoy them to their ports. They did not get to the Downs in time and so orders will go tonight to the RICHMOND to convoy them. If they do not get to her in time, Rear Admiral Carter who is going to Plymouth with a squadron will be ordered to take care of them. The SAMUEL & HENRY is waiting in the Downs for Mr Taylor's mast ships to New England and we desire you will quicken the dispatch of these ships without delay.
