In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The Petition of Ann Sheldon Widow. The Petitioner's late husband Francis Sheldon, Shipwright, was employed by the King of Denmark for several years and was allowed an annual pension of 1500 Rix Dollars, but at the request of the English Envoy left the Danish King's service upon promise of better employment in England. In January 690 he was sent to Ireland to fell timber for their Majesties' Navy, but died in Waterford in November 1690, leaving the petitioner with 7 children and never receiving anything since his death. The Petitioner prays that their Lordships will consider her position and order such allowance as they shall think fit. Navy Board asked to consider and give their opinion on what is to be done.
