In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Josiah Green Master and Owner of the [LAUREL] Ketch of London has applied for an Allowance for the time the ketch served as Tender to the WARSPIGHT for a period beyond its official discharge date. An affidavit from the Deputy Master of the Ketch Thomas [Cony] states that although Lieutenant Mitchell told him of the discharge date he refused to give him a Certificate until the Men loaned to the Ketch by the WARSPIGHT had been paid. This in turn Cony refused to do arguing that the Men were still born of the WARSPIGHT's Books. An instruction is given for Green to be paid for the extra time provided he pays for the wages and victuals of the WARSPIGHT's Men. In the meantime the wages of Lieutenant Mitchell are to be stopped.
