In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Wanting to know what salaries are allowed to Admirals' Secretaries when at sea in the Channel. Appended is a note recording that that in 1653 Jonathan Portman received two hundred pounds a year as Secretary to the General of the Fleet.
