Letters from family and friends, 1896-1897.
Letters to James Richard Thursfield and his wife, received in December 1896 and January 1897. They send congratulations after their son Henry G. Thursfield had passed examinations for a cadetship so that he could enter HMS BRITANNIA in January 1897. They include letters from Vice-Admiral John A. Fisher, Lord Northbourne, Charles N. Robinson, and other colleagues at ‘The Times’. There is also a related Post Office telegram from Gieves & Sons outfitters at Portsmouth.
