Letters to James Richard Thursfield and his wife, from family and friends, mainly concerning their son Henry G. Thursfield, his promotion to the rank of commander and subsequent appointments, dated between 22 September 1912 and 12 June 1917. They include a pass for the Thursfield family to enter and leave the Isle of Grain as guests of Commander Henry G. Thursfield serving on the battleship HMS DREADNOUGHT (1906), sent from the Royal Naval Aeroplane Repair Station, Port Victoria, dated 23 July 1916.
