In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
It had previously been ordered that 50 seamen with a Lieutenant in charge of them should be taken out of each of the three ships MORDANT, SWALLOW and PORTLAND and sent to Portsmouth in the GREENWICH but, instead, when these ships arrive at Spithead, the aforementioned seamen and officers are to be put aboard the ROYAL CHARLES together with two further groups of 50 men, each under the charge of an officer, taken from the GREENWICH and the NEWCASTLE. Further seamen and an officer are also to be taken out of the OXFORD, which is ordered to Portsmouth for a refit, and put aboard the ROYAL CHARLES, which is ordered to Woolwich. After she arrives at Woolwich, the men are to be returned to their original ships.
