In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

We have considered the letter to your Board from the two members thereof at Portsmouth dated 21st June last in answer to our enquiry by our Orders to you of June 18th, namely by what Orders the two Fireships and WILD Prize were fitted out to Sea.
Although these Gentlemen may have given Orders for fitting out these Vessels upon the directions of the Admiralty, they ought to have laid the matter before this Board and received our Orders, the rules of the Navy not admitting any increase in Charges without Orders from the Admiralty Commissioners.
We direct you to charge the Yard Officers to keep to the Rules of the Navy in this matter.
