In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
We direct you to hire upon the best terms you can, five of those Merchant Ships mentioned in your letter to us of the 11th July, which are the best sailors and can be got ready soonest, to be employed as Men of War of the 5th Rate, and sending us an account of your proceedings, together with your opinion what number of Men, and number and nature of Guns you judge fitting to be allowed each of the Ships you hire.
