In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Your letter to this Board of July12th informed us that speed is required in sending several Naval Stores to Plymouth. You have agreed for two Ships mentioned therein to carry Stores there at ten shillings a ton provided they may have leave to proceed to the West Indies after delivering the Stores at Plymouth, and also protections for their men.
Upon consideration we do not think it fitting, since there is a general embargo at present on the Trade to the West Indies, that any particular Ships should have liberty to proceed there. We therefore direct you to provide freight for the said Stores to Plymouth on the best terms you can upon some other Ships which are not under the embargo.
