In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Ref. your letter of the 7th inst. that HMS MERMAID is so full of stores that she cannot accommodate the Hammocks (to be sent in her to Portsmouth) for the Soldiers going to the West Indies. Any that cannot be taken should be put on HMS FALCON at the Buoy of the Nore to go to Portsmouth. Re your letter enclosing a requests from the Commissioner and Master Attendant at Chatham for 100 more Riggers and more Labourers to increase them to 100. We require you to increase the numbers of Riggers, Labourers and other workmen to be entered there and other Yards that you judge requisite for their needs.
