In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
We have ordered that the ROYAL OAK, EXPEDITION, BERWICK, and ELIZABETH, formerly to go to Chatham, be continued at Spithead in order to be fitted at Portsmouth for next year's service. You are to have these ships fitted at Portsmouth and have the EXETER hulk employed for the service of that yard. We also direct you to send us an account as to when the squadron appointed for service in the Mediterranean, to be fitted without sheathing, will be ready to proceed on that voyage.
