In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Abraham Penfold late Cook of the MONCK, being by reason of age and infirmity is incapable of employment. We have thought it fitting to discharge him and if it appears by your report of 2 November that he has served as Cook between 21 and 20 years, which is more than the time limited for the service of such officers to be superannuated by His Majesty's Order in Council of 11 December 1690. You are directed to settle a pension on him during his natural life equal to the wages and allowances of Cooks of a 3rd Rate ship, from the time of his discharge from the MONCK. You are to sign bills quarterly on the Treasurer of the Navy for paying this pension.
