In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Edward Lassells in Virginia has recommended using Cypres trees for masts in HM Ships. Instructions are given for the FORESIGHT and ARCHANGEL to proceed to Virginia to have some of their masts and yards replaced bringing their dismantled timbers back to England together with an unworked Cypres tree for experimental purposes.
