The Petition of John Porter states that he has been a Warrant Officer for 20 years, 14 years of that time as Boatswain of the KENT. Now being 60 years of age he is very infirm and has lost much of the use of his right hand, certified by the Surgeon of the Sick and Wounded at Portsmouth. He is incapable of further service certified by his Commander, Captain Edwards. He prays that he may partake of the their Majesties Royal Bounty for superannuation. You are directed to examine the facts of the petition and report whether it comes within the Establishment for Officers Superannuated in their Majesties' Service at Sea.
