In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The Petition of William Carbonell and other Merchants of London Owners of the CORONATION, John Bennett Commander, and the ENGLAND Frigate, Henry Subble late Commander, each of them being 410 Tons carrying 200 men and forty Guns. Signed by William Carbonell and other shipowners.
The two Ships were hired at Barbados for their Majesties' Service in January and February 1692 and in company with Captain Wren's Squadron were actually in the engagement with the French and received considerable damage, all of which the the Petitioners are ready to make appear.
Not having received satisfaction, as the Navy Commissioners stated they could not pay without your Lordships' Orders, the Petitioners ask that directions be given to Commissioners to pay for the damages received, and their hire, Wages and other allowances usual for hired fourth Rate Ships.
We refer this Petition to the Navy Board for consideration and report back.
