In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Captain Gourney, Commander of the BRISTOL, has advised us that the ship, before she was re-built, was allowed 12 pounders only on her gun deck by reason of her weakness. Now that she is re-built she may be allowed guns which are more serviceable. You are directed to give your opinion as to whether she may now carry guns at first established for her.
