In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

The Admiralty Commissioners having appointed a Provost Marshall to look after the Irish prisoners and others in the Savoy, taken at Sea, they desire that you will let me know whether there has been such an Officer on Shore heretofore, and if so what he was allowed for the same, but if there has been none, that then you give me your opinion (for their information) what allowance of Salary or Wages you judge proper to be made him to perform this Service.
Your letter of the 21st with a Copy of one from the Victualling Commissioners concerns a Man pressed out of GUIFI Victualling Ship for the LANCASTER, as a result of which the Master desires Freight for the time he stayed behind at Portsmouth and lost the benefit of the Convoy.
After an account of the matter from Captain Leak, the Commissioners opine that the Master should not be paid anything.
