In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Having received an account from the Commissioner at Plymouth, that on 26 June the Storekeeper of the yard brought three cartloads of timber to the dock which had been some time in the storehouse and had carried two loads to his house for the fire. The Commissioner ordered the Storekeeper to leave the third load that the Shipwright might examine it as to its quality, but notwithstanding that he carried it away. The Storekeeper told the Commissioner that it was his perquisites, but the Commissioner believes that some of the timber could be used for His Majesty's service and the worst of it could be used for fuel. You are directed to have the Storekeeper dismissed and to send us the names of two or three persons suitable for such employment.
