In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The Lords Justices by their Order in Council of 9 July, have sent us a copy of the petition of William Partridge, concerning the building of ships in New England for His Majesty's service. We send you a copy and direct that you consider this and report your opinion of what is fit to be done. We have also been sent a Presentment of the Commissioners of Customs about ships and vessels employed in fetching and carrying naval stores and provisions which do not come under any custom house visitations or searches, and have the opportunity to carry bullion or coin of the kingdom. You are directed to consider this and report your opinion in what manner this may be prevented in future.
