In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Copy of the Petition of William Partridge Esq. The Commissioners of the Admiralty and the Commissioners of the Navy Board being dissatisfied with the quality of the New England naval stores and timber or the manner of building ships, the Petitioner is content to take such surveyors out of His Majesty's yards as the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty and the Commissioners of the Navy Board shall direct, and shall put no timber into the ships he builds or send no naval stores but those approved, and prays that he may speedily seek encouragement in this design. [document not dated]. Copy of the Presentment of the Commissioners of Customs, dated 23 June 1696. Concerned that diverse ships under pretence of being engaged in His Majesty's service of carrying naval stores and under the protection of the King's Flag, do not come under and custom house visitation or searches. Signed by William Partridge, Governor of New Hmapshire in New England; and J. Chadwick, C. Godolphin, W. Young, L. Clarke, and B Preston, Customs Commissioners.
