In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

[continuation of doc 122] Two seamen without any press warrant, pressed a Master of a hoy while he was in the middle of Portsmouth. The Town Mayor and officers of the yard with some soldiers, secured both the Master of the hoy and the two seamen and sent them to the Commissioner of the dockyard, who did but abuse the Town Mayor telling him that the seamen may press where they please, though they did not have a warrant. Oath sworn by three soldiers of the Portsmouth Garrison about the action of the Captain and Surgeon of the SCARBOROUGH. Signed by Colonel Gibson, Lieutenant Governor of the Portsmouth Garrison; and William Lewis, Isaac Walker, and John Sharman, Soldiers of the Portsmouth Garrison.
