In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The Commander of the GUERNSEY, lately launched by Mr Henry Johnson at Blackwall, advises us that the upper works and deck are very leaky. You are directed to make enquiry into this matter and have the ship caulked. Mr Bailey of Dartmouth has sent you some accounts of charges made in cleaning his Majesty's ships at that port. You are directed to examine these and to reimburse him if it appears to you that he he has produced sufficient vouchers, and to make him such allowance for his trouble as you think reasonable and consistent with the rules of the Navy.
