In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Your letter of 17 July advised us that the JOSIAH storeship's defects are so many that if taken into the dock at Plymouth she will hinder the cleaning of cruisers and other ships, and therefore you think it adviseable that she should be ordered into the Thames to be refitted, but only to have such works and stores at Plymouth to enable her to proceed accordingly. We have sent orders to her Commander to repair to Longreach and from thence to proceed to such of His Majesty's yards to be refitted as soon as ordered.
