In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Your letter yesterday to our Secretary, advised that the new 5th Rate building at Redbridge and named the SOUTHSEA CASTLE, is to be established with the same number of men and number and nature of guns allowed the 5th Rate last built, may be ready to launch on 3 August. You are directed to have her launched as soon as may be and fitted out for service in the Channel, manned to her highest complement of men and victualled for 10 weeks. She is to be entered and registered on the list of the Navy and Captain Whittaker, her Commander, is to be furnished with a tender for the better manning of her and you are to give directions for entering men in her.
