Document signed by William Bridgeman, circa 1646-1699, English civil servant and Secretary to the Admiralty between 1694 and 1698

You advised us that you were unable to pay the marines for the time they were ashore according to the last establishment as the Commissary's Muster Rolls are imperfect. Their Lordships sent orders to the Colonels or the chief officers in town, to send to your Board an account when each man belonging to their company was put ashore, where and from what ship, and how they were afterwards disposed. We enclose a copy of Lord Berkeley's letter.
