In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The Navy Board is seeking directions as to what is to happen to the DEFIANCE and the LITCHFIELD. The Admiralty replies that Litchfield is not to be cleaned and sheathed on coming into port, neither is the DEFIANCE to go on foreign service. As regards tomorrow's business, the Navy Board is to come prepared to discuss the proposal to put the Fleet at Spithead on full allowance.
