In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Ordering the payment of all Men in Men-of-War to be paid their wages up until Michealmas 1695 and directing that the ships whose Crews have been turned over into other ships are to be put in Ordinary and their repairs proceeded with as a matter of great urgency. The DEFIANCE, on her return from the Baltic, is to be repaired at Chatham and made ready for Channel service; and announcing that the Provisions to be prepared for four thousand Men shall not include beer butter or cheese. The TIGER and SMYRNA MERCHANT Hired ships having been ordered to Plymouth to be refitted for Channel service are to receive three months' Victuals for their highest complements of Men and their owners are to be instructed accordingly. The PEARL is defective and is to be laid up and put in Ordinary and the Foremast Men are to be turned over into the BLACKWALL and GUERNSEY.
