In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Captain Littleton, Commander of the PORTLAND, has informed this Board that he has taken and brought into Dartmouth a French Spy carrying six Guns and four Patereroes.
We direct you to cause a survey to be taken of her, and if found fitting to serve as an Advice Boat you are to buy her for that purpose and solicit the Treasury for Money to do this. If you buy her you are to report to us what number of Men and Guns will be fitting for her.
