In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
A Warrant was granted on the 3rd September 1695 appointing Mr John Hext Chaplain of the Queen, to inspect and oversee the lives and behaviour of the rest of the Chaplains of his Majesty's Fleet in the Mediterranean, for which service we think it is fitting that he should have an allowance of Salary of one hundred pounds per annum over and above his Pay as Chaplain of the Queen. We direct you to cause this allowance to be made accordingly, to commence from the date of his aforesaid Warrant ,to the day Sir George Rooke struck his Flag upon his late return from the Straights.
