Document signed by Josiah Burchett (c.1666-1746), Secretary to the Admiralty (1694-1742)
Concerning your letter to the Admiralty Commissioners regarding Hugh Hutchinson, an Officer employed by the Ordnance in Ireland, who was accused of embezzzling his Majesty's Stores, and upon standing trial for Trespass was acquitted, the Commissioners informed the Master of the Ordnance, the Earl of Romney, therewith, and desired him to let them know whether since he could not be tried for Felony in that Kingdom, he could not deliver him up to Justice here for the aforesaid offence, to which the Principal Ordnance Officers having returned the enclosed answers, the Commissioners have commanded me to transmit this to you.
