In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Having ordered the DEFIANCE and DUNKIRK up to Chatham we direct you upon their arrival there to cause them to be cleaned and refitted for Channel service, provided they need only cleaning and ordinary repairs so as not to delay other Navy Vessels there. They are to be victualled for ten weeks, giving us an account of what you do.
We also direct you to cause the SWEEPSTAKE at Sheerness to be cleaned and refitted there for Channel service and victualled for ten weeks or three months.
