In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
At a Court Martial held on board the LONDON at Blackstakes on 29 September 1696, Captain John Munden, Commander-in-Chief in the River Thames and River Medway, President, enquiry was made into the loss of the FORTUNE machine vessel. Captain John Beckham her commander was ordered to forfeit all the wages due him for his service in the vessel to the Chest at Chatham. We enclose a copy of the sentence of the Court Martial and direct you to see that the wages are paid to the Chest at Chatham accordingly.
