Document signed by William Lowndes, 1652-1724, Secretary to the Treasury (from 1695) under King William III and Queen Anne

My letter of 25 March directed that the Commissioners at Portsmouth should take into custody out of the BERWICK, four bales and a black box which were to be presents to the government of Algiers and Tripoli, and to keep them until further order. I am now to advise you to give orders to the officers at Portsmouth to deliver these to Sir Cloudesley Shovell who is now to proceed with the Straits squadron to present these gifts.
