Your letter of 7 October gave a list of great ships which you think may be refitted at Chatham, Woolwich yard and merchant docks in the river, and Portsmouth. List of ships as follows: To Chatham: BRITANNIA, ST ANDREW, LONDON, ROYAL WILLIAM, ALBERMARLE, DUCHESS, ROYAL KATHERINE, NEPTUNE, OSSORY, SANDWICH, VANGUARD, DORSETSHIRE, DEFIANCE, RESOLUTION, ROYAL OAK, DEVONSHIRE, CHICHESTER, EXPEDITION, BOYNE, EDGAR, NORTHUMBERLAND. To Woolwich and Merchant Docks: NORFOLK, RUSSELL, DUNKIRK, IPSWICH, LYON, MONMOUTH, SUFFOLK, BURFORD, MONTAGUE. To Portsmouth: VICTORY, ST MICHAEL, SHREWSBURY, CAPTAIN, HAMPTON COURT, NEWARK, RESTORATION, TORBAY, MARY, CUMBERLAND, KENT, BERWICK, ELIZABETH, LENNOX, HUMBER, STERLING CASTLE, LANCASTER. You are to take care that the 3rd Rates are first gone in hand with, and then the 2nd and 1st; and those of such rates which have the least work to do.
