In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
You are directed to give us notice of when you would have the great ships at the Nore ordered up to Chatham for repairs. You are also to furnish Sir Cloudesley Shovell, who is going with a squadron to the Straits, with sufficient credits for £4,000. We have considered your letter about Renatus Jordaine that he has failed in his duty as Muster Master in the Straits, but being informed that no instructions were given to him by the Admiral of the Fleet, we think it fit that the wages due to him be paid. We also direct that the wages due to Captain John Jennings for service in the MARY, and wages for Captain Littlejohn for the time he commanded the WINCHELSEA (as far as Michaelmas 1695) be paid, taking care the His Majesty be made a saver.
