In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Captain Wivell left command of the BERWICK and discharged 29 men by ticket, and being ordered to send them on board the BERWICK going to the Straits, he wrote to them accordingly for them to return. Some men returned, but many being distant from Portsmouth they did not return in time. Captain Mani who succeeded Captain Wivell, queried the 17 persons named here viz Ben Sacheverell, Jonathan Covell, David Summers, William Haberdine, William Potter, Henly Parson, Alexander Green, Thomas Flowers, Pasco Axford, Robert Hartly, Robert Kigwin, Robert Gold, John Hodder, Robert Castle, Gabriel Emtige and Thomas Driver. Captain Wivell has said that the 17 men entered themselves on board the KENT upon his appointment as commander. You are directed to have the Run against their names removed.
