Document signed by Josiah Burchett (c.1666-1746), Secretary to the Admiralty (1694-1742)
In their Lordships order to you of 2 January last, about an increase in salary for the yard officers, there is a clause which directs that none of the servants of the officers of His Majesty's yards shall be employed in any extra works for the future unless there are not sufficient men to carry on without them. I am directed to ask whether these directions have been sent to all His Majesty's yards and which of those have not received them.
