In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Your letter of 9 October to our Secretary sent a copy of the survey of the RESOLUTION and you have proposed sending the ship to Chatham, but the ship requiring a greater repair you think it best to pay her off and we have therefore ordered her officers and company to be sent to Portsmouth, some by the LITCHFIELD and the rest by land to serve in the STERLING CASTLE. Upon arrival at Chatham the RESOLUTION is to be paid off.
