In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The CHATHAM, now at the Nore, is to go to the East Country, and her commander has given us an account that the cheeks of the foremast are sprung one third through at the head of the mast, the rails of the head and carved work washed away, and the sails and cables very defective. You are directed to have some hands sent on board her from Sheerness to assist in fitting her mast and that all possible dispatch be made in putting the ship in condition for the voyage.
