Document signed by William Bridgeman, circa 1646-1699, English civil servant and Secretary to the Admiralty between 1694 and 1698

Their Lordships direct that you are to consider an estimate of the change of registering seamen in the Cinque Ports as soon as you can. Their Lordships observe that in the estimate last year to Parliament, the article for the officers of marine regiments amounts to £16,972.5.0 and in the estimate of the charge of the Navy this year it amounts to £23,717 for the officers and soldiers of the marine regiments on shore. They ask that you let them know the reason for this increase.
